Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

Skin Appraisal ("we", "us", or "our") operates an online CS2 skin and charm appraisal tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you when you use our website and related services (the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Summary

  • We do not require a Skin Appraisal account or Steam login to use the Service.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • Some preferences and saved appraisals stay in your browser unless you clear them.
  • When you complete an appraisal, we may store a limited snapshot on our servers for share links and public recent-activity feeds.
  • We use third-party providers for hosting, market data, currency rates, and item imagery.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide through use

When you search, browse, or run an appraisal, you may submit item names, catalog selections, wear/float values, paint seeds or charm pattern indices, sticker and patch choices, charm attachments, and similar inputs needed to generate an estimate. If you use share features, we process the appraisal snapshot needed to build that link.

2.2 Information stored on your device

The Service uses browser storage to improve convenience. Depending on your use, this may include:

  • Currency preference — your selected display currency.
  • Saved appraisals — bookmarks you choose to save locally in your browser.
  • Search history — recent catalog searches to speed up repeat lookups.
  • Session UI state — short-lived data used for navigation and animation behavior within a browsing session.

This device-stored information is not synced to a Skin Appraisal account and is not accessible to us unless you separately transmit it through normal use of the Service (for example, by running an appraisal that reaches our servers).

2.3 Information collected automatically

When you visit or use the Service, our servers and infrastructure providers may automatically collect technical information such as:

  • IP address and approximate location derived from IP
  • Browser type, device type, operating system, and language
  • Referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps
  • Request logs, error logs, and security/rate-limit signals

We may use essential cookies or similar technologies required for basic site operation, security, and performance. We also use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and how the Service is used (for example pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device and browser type). Google may set cookies or similar identifiers as part of that measurement. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google processes data. We do not use the Service to operate a logged-in social profile or a targeted advertising network.

2.4 Shared and feed-visible appraisal records

When you complete an appraisal, we may store a limited record on our servers so the result can be reopened via a shareable URL and may appear in recent public activity feeds. These records can include item labels, estimate amounts, wear and pattern details, attachment metadata, timestamps, and display-related fields. They do not include your Steam credentials or full inventory.

2.5 Information we do not collect

We do not ask for your Steam password. We do not process payment card information through the Service. We do not operate a Skin Appraisal user account system at this time, so we do not collect registration details such as email or username for account login.

3. How we use information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Generate and display appraisals, guides, and market context
  • Convert and display prices in your selected currency
  • Enable share links and recent activity feeds
  • Monitor performance, debug errors, and protect against abuse
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns and improve reliability
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • Contract / service delivery — to provide the appraisal functionality you request.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure, improve, and analyze the Service in a way that does not override your rights.
  • Consent — where required for optional activities or jurisdictions that require it.
  • Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these situations:

  • Service providers — hosting, database/cache, content delivery, infrastructure monitoring, analytics (including Google Analytics), and similar vendors that process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
  • Market and catalog sources — when requesting prices, catalog metadata, exchange rates, or related data needed to produce an estimate. Those providers receive only the information necessary for the request.
  • Public display — appraisal snapshots may appear in share links or recent public feeds visible to other visitors.
  • Legal and safety — if we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the Service and users.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to continuing protections consistent with this policy.

The Service may display item images or metadata served from Steam or other third-party CDNs when you view catalog or appraisal content. Those third parties may receive standard technical request data such as IP address and browser information under their own policies.

6. Data retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law.

  • Server logs and security records are kept for a limited operational window.
  • Shared appraisal snapshots and recent feed entries are retained in a rolling store and trimmed over time; older entries are removed automatically.
  • Browser-stored preferences and saved appraisals remain on your device until you clear site data or uninstall/reset browser storage.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we process. No website or internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International transfers

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of certain information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

You can clear browser-stored preferences, saved appraisals, and search history at any time through your browser's site-data controls. Because we do not operate user accounts, we may not be able to identify server-side appraisal records as belonging to you unless you provide the relevant share link or enough detail for us to locate them.

To exercise privacy rights or ask questions, contact us through our Discord. We may need to verify your request before responding.

10. California privacy notice

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, including the right to know categories of personal information collected, the right to delete certain information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

11. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

12. Third-party links and platforms

The Service may link to Discord, social media, marketplaces, or other third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Skin Appraisal is not affiliated with Valve Corporation or Steam.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may also be noted on the Service where practicable. Continued use after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.

14. Contact

Privacy questions or requests may be sent through our Discord.
